History of Turner Woodworks

 Turner Woodworks was founded in 2016 by Alex Turner, whose passion for carpentry began long before the business had a name. Working in the Framers Union by day and building small projects out of his father’s one-car garage by night, Alex started with simple pieces—cornhole boards, décor for local restaurants, and small trim jobs for homeowners. These early projects laid the groundwork for what would become a full-service carpentry and custom woodworking company.

As word spread and the workload increased, the projects naturally evolved into larger interior trim jobs, decks, and more specialized custom builds. Driven by a desire for new experiences and continued growth, Alex and his wife made the decision to move to Charleston, South Carolina. With little more than a pickup truck, a skill saw, and a determination to succeed, Alex officially launched Turner Woodworks in the Lowcountry.

In Charleston, Turner Woodworks took on a wide range of work—from movie set fabrication and historic preservation to extensive interior trim projects and miles of shiplap. As demand grew, Alex expanded his capabilities by opening a commercial cabinet shop, bringing design, fabrication, finishing, and installation under one roof. The shop produced fully custom cabinetry, built-ins, fireplace mantles, and detailed millwork, allowing clients to experience a seamless, start-to-finish service.

After several successful years in South Carolina, Alex and his family chose to return home to Massachusetts to be closer to loved ones and continue the next chapter of Turner Woodworks. Today, with experience spanning residential trim, cabinetry, millwork, historic renovation, and specialty projects, Turner Woodworks is proud to provide some of the finest craftsmanship in the region.
